Lecturer’s photography to be the highlight

For Jillian Duquaine Watson, documental photography offers a new perspective of natural world. In the last few years, the senior lecturer in School of Interdisciplinary Studies has gone to Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge each month or two to click snaps of native animals and plants. The Friends of Hagerman NWR Foundation also named her as the Photographer of the Month for January.

Duquaine-Watson stated that this is the very first time she has gotten a solo exhibit and this is a huge deal for him. This is huge honor as some of the other folks who clicked snaps at Hagerman. She has seen their snaps and they are snaps are very beautiful.

An online gallery, this month, features the portfolio of Duquaine Watson that includes twelve snaps photographs clicked at Hagerman. She stated that refuge would also display her collection on-site as well as incorporate it in educational programming.

Meanwhile, Kerr AT ambassador and Wildlife photographer Alex Cearns, who has been describes with macro photography, spoke about macro photography as one of the most accessible genres of photography. Almost any subject could create an interesting macro click are all around everyone all the time, just waiting to be taken.

Cearns, as a wildlife photographer, specializes in clicking snaps of animals and nature. As a result, this is not very uncommon for her to take pictures of popular animal subjects, like a dog’s face or a pelican, but offering them in a fresh and new way though macro photography. She told that birds, domestic pets, and fish all make great creature subjects. Flowers, grasses, rocks and bark patterns also make fantastic natural subjects.

Mayakoba Resort collaborates with top photojournalists

An eco resort called Mayakoba on the Caribbean’s shores (Mexico) has collaborated with 3 of the most honored names in the wildlife photojournalism. Nat Geo Magazine contributing snappers Tim Laman, Brian Skerry and Steve Winter – for a brand new series of Wildlife Photo MasterClass.

The intensive 3 night curriculum lets snappers of each levels – starting from novice fancier to the highly advanced – pace into the character of a photojournalist as they take snaps of some of over two hundred bird species as well as native wildlife within the saved sanctuary of Mayakoba’s alien  waterways and mangrove forests.

Students of MasterClass will get 1 on 1 as well as group guidance on every looks of photography – from Laman or Skerry or Winter, who have clicked some of the most distinguished wildlife snaps of the world for mags from Time to Esquire to National Geographic.

2013 Marwell’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year

Entries are now open for the 2013 Marwell’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year award. The contest will have 4 categories this year. Judges will examine entries for photographic excellence, composition and high quality.
The categories for the contest are –

•    Cute and Funny
•    Native Wildlife
•    Marwell Wildlife Endangered
•    Marwell Wildlife Residents

The top prize for the contest winner is a trip to Sweden with Nick Garbutt, the well known wildlife photographer. Other prizes include a half day safari with Nick Garbutt, a special day at the zoo incorporating a Junior Keeper Experience, behind the scenes animal encounters, camera equipments, Annual Memberships to Marwell Zoo and lots more.

To enter the contest, adults have to pay £5, but it is free for juniors. The last date for submitting entries is 14th September, 2013.

The Marwell’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2013 is sponsored by Wildlife Worldwide, a Winchester based travel company.

Celebrating the wildlife variety, Marwell’s photography contest is open to amateur, professional as well as young photographers alike. Wildlife Worldwide is also sponsoring the trip to Sweden with pro photographer Nick Garbutt.

This is the 4th year when Marwell has held Wildlife Photographer of the Year. During the time, judges have seen stunning images from amateur and professional photographers.

This year’s judges include award winning professional wildlife photographer Heather Angel, Ben Hawkins and Paul Collins. Philippa Forrester, well known Wildlife Television Producer and Presenter, will help to judge Junior Categories.

Eurofighter Typhoon starts 2013 Amateur Photography contest

Eurofighter PR and Communications is set to start the quest to see Gaz’s successor since this year’s contest is announced, May 14, 2013. The contest attracts a high level of interest with photographs of Eurofighter Typhoon coming in from a collection of skilled and keen amateur photographers.

The contest of this year will run till October 31, 2013. Chief judge, and a well known expert of Typhoon photography, will be Geoffrey Lee. He told that this is the right platform to prove that amateur photography can be very extraordinary.

Lee points to the 2013 Eurofighter calendar’s front cover as a beautiful example of an atmospheric snap – a photograph taken over RAF Conings by Gaz West. This is the same person that won the 2012 Competition.

The calendar was released across the world and it got incredible feedback, stating that you does not have to be a pro photographer to click professional images of Typhoon.

The winner of this year’s contest will be revealed during Dubai Air Show in November. The judging panel will include last year’s winner Gaz and all the judges will meet at the Eurofighter Hallbergmoos to select the winning photograph. The title winner will get a guided tour of Eurofighter from an experienced Eurofighter pilot as well as have their snap featured in 2014 Eurofighter calendar.
